Identifying Forums
In many of your courses, you will be expected to dialog with your fellow students and instructors using forums on a regular basis. You can identify a forum in your course by the following icon:
Challenge: Contribute to a Forum
Now that you have learned how to post and reply in a forum, it is time for you to practice this skill. Head over to the forum in the Moodle Sandbox and start a new discussion topic. Then post a reply to another student's post in another discussion.

The following video will help prepare you to post and reply in forums in your courses. At the bottom of this solution you will find a downloadable PDF of the video script.
INSTRUCTIONS: Forums
- To enter a forum, click on the forum link on the course main page.
- To start a new discussion:
- Click Add a new discussion topic.
- Type a subject line and fill in your message in the message window.
- Click Post to forum.
- You will now have a 30-minute time period in which to make any edits, should you find a mistake.
- To reply to another post:
- Identify the post that you would like to respond to and click Reply.
- Type a subject line and fill in your message in the message window.
- Click Post to forum.
- You will now have a 30-minute time period in which to make any edits, should you find a mistake.
